Michigan is a great destination

for travelers in the summer months. It is home to a plethora of lakes, beaches, sand dunes, hills, and forests. The weather is perfectly attuned to visiting the great outdoors of the Great Lakes State. Michigan is the only state to consist of two peninsulas. The Lower Peninsula is often noted to be shaped like a mitten. The Upper Peninsula (“the U.P.”) is separated from the Lower Peninsula by the Straits of Mackinac, a five-mile channel that joins Lake Huron to Lake Michigan. The two peninsulas are connected by the Mackinac Bridge.
