Rendezvous points will vary by tour and are noted on the specific itinerary. Your Preparation Packet will give you the rendezvous details, such as the hotel name where your group will be staying before you pick up your CamperVan. Your Caravan Field Staff will be available throughout the tour day to assist you with anything you may need – finding a grocery store, filling your tank or setting up at camp. You will be provided with Trip Logs that give detailed directions to get from one campground to the next. If you bring your own GPS we will give you the coordinates necessary for the campgrounds. Most of the driving on the tour will be on local roads, but if it is necessary to travel on a major freeway (Autobahn) we do not go faster than 55 to 65 mph. You will want to take frequent breaks to take pictures and take in the sights along the route. Communication during the travel day will be via Handheld Radios or Cell Phones (depending upon the country). We stay in a campground every night unless noted on the itinerary. Whatever the overnight accommodations are – they are included in the price of your tour. Hookups will vary by country and by the campground. Some of the campgrounds will have a restaurant on the property or a community kitchen, and many are family run. Your Field Staff will let you know what the amenities will be at the next campground during your travel briefing. LEARN ABOUT OUR EUROPEAN TOUR OPERATOR
Our European operator is based in Germany and has successfully been running tours for 17 years. The owner, Thomas Grossmann, personally prepares and guides the tours and he and his staff are all local and very experienced travelers and tour leaders. Thomas comes from a business background but decided to make his passion for travel and people his second career in 2009. He has since been working in the tourism industry, including being a professional yacht skipper, before continuing as a European Tour operator after the founders retired a few years ago. Of course, all the European staff is fluent in English as their tours are tailored to overseas guests, mainly from the USA, Canada and Australia. Like all of us at Adventure Caravans, Thomas and his team truly care about providing the best vacation experience for you.
