– Experienced Adventure Caravans Wagonmaster …AN AMAZING CURTAIN OF FALLING WATER FROM THE ZAMBEZI RIVER MAKES THIS — the largest waterfall in the world! Awe-inspiring vistas and the tremendous, billowing mist created from this natural force is incredible. Located in southern Africa at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe this beautiful site was named in honor of Queen Victoria. However, the falls are still locally known at Mosi-oa-Tunya – ‘the smoke that thunders’ because of the enormous mist which sprays 1300 feet into the air. The neighboring national park in Zimbabwe is locally known as Victoria Falls, which could become confusing for visitors to the area. Officially recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Victoria Falls is significant for its geological and geomorphological features. The Zambezi flows over Basalt Slabs for many miles approaching the falls – where a once small crevice has been cut by the river into this enormous display. Flowing through a series of eight spectacular basalt gorges – this area is rich with rare species and wonderful plants. Filled with interesting land formations and outstanding beauty it’s no wonder why this is such a popular attraction. – Hotel Accommodations Included Day 1 Johannesburg Travel insurance may cover your travel investment should the unexpected illness of you, a traveling companion or family member force you to cancel your vacation.
