Get ready for the perfect winter get-a-way by enjoying the beautiful sunshine of the American Southwest.

Our Winter Oasis tour will have you basking in the fun and excitement only imagined by those in colder climates.

We begin in Palm Springs, CA, where we climb aboard the World’s Largest Rotating Tramcar, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, and glide to 8500 feet.  Wow, what an amazing view!  Ever wonder what they do with all those palm trees?  We find out with our visit to Shields Date Farm.  At Living Desert Zoo & Gardens, we ride a live camel (if available) and an endangered species carousel, while learning the importance of conservation and preservation in a desert environment.

Next, we visit Pahrump, NV, the heart of the desert and the perfect place to enjoy the best of southern Nevada.  We venture off to the Death Valley Ranch, better known as Scotty’s Castle, to view a window into the life and times of the Roaring 20’s and Depression 30’s.

We have scheduled an evening tour to experience the millions of fantastic lights only Las Vegas has to offer.  We also enjoy two Vegas Headliner shows for you entertainment.  We learn the history of Hoover Dam, an amazing construction accomplishment which began in 1931 during the Great Depression, on a guided tour.

We’re not done yet – we are off to Lake Havasu City, the home of the London Bridge.  The bridge was dismantled in London, brought to Arizona and re-assembled brick by brick in 1971.  It crosses a 930 foot long man-made canal that flows from Lake Havasu.  A true highlight on our ‘Oasis’ is the Lake Havasu Balloon Festival.  Our visit includes all three days of mass ascensions and landings.

Our next stop is Quartzsite, with a chance to see and experience the RV lifestyle mecca of activity firsthand.

While in The Mesa/Phoenix area, we see 2 live stage shows The Duttons and an Arizona Opry Dinner Show.  We explore Superstition Mountain’s Ghost Town, take a ride on the Narrow Gauge Railroad to find out what is at the Mystery Shack and LuLu’s Bordello and take a narrated Steamboat Cruise on Canyon Lake.

Many interesting sights await us in Tucson, AZ, where we visit Mission San Zavier del Bac, the ‘Sistine Chapel of North America’.  How about a guided tour of the Biosphere 2, a closed ecological system?  We also tour the Pima Air and Space Museum and take a narrated Sabino Canyon tram tour.

We end our tour of the Southwest in ‘the town too tough to die’, Tombstone, AZ.  Tombstone is internationally known for its stormy and storied past.  Experience a re-enactment of the historical gunfight at the O.K. Corral, visit the Boothill graveyard and enjoy eating at Big Nose Kate’s saloon.  Lastly discover the picturesque town of Bisbee, once known as ‘the queen of the copper camps’.  Ride the mining train and learn of the miner’s life from days gone by, visit unique museums and numerous galleries.  This caravan is FULL of activity with shows galore.  Now we know what all the Snowbird Southwest fuss is about.  Don’t miss this one.

  • When we signed up for the tour all we knew was that we were going to Alaska. Adventure Caravans made this trip, for us, a once in a lifetime experience. Everything was taken care of, all we had to do was leave in the morning and be in the next campground by a certain time. We enjoyed every facet of the tour from the log meetings and socials to the tours and our free time. Kudos to the wagon masters and the Penny and Tom. The icing on the cake are the wonderful friends that we made and know we will keep in touch. The camaraderie among the whole group was amazing but the trip left us with memories for a lifetime. Thank you Adventure Caravans.
