A Celebration of History

A Story of Triumph and the Freedom We Celebrate Today

Be a part of the defining moment in American History with this 43 day caravan dedicated to the history of the Civil War. We rendezvous in Vidalia, Louisiana and end this historic tour in Yuma, Tennessee closely following the route where many important battles were fought. We have organized this trip to see as many of the sites relating to the Civil War as possible and still take in most of the non-related exciting and interesting sights and activities along the way. We went to great efforts to obtain the services of the best transportation, guides and facilities available so you would experience a fantastic tour and have the most enjoyment possible.

Check out this itinerary! It is loaded with historical sites, museums and points of interest – all related to the Civil War. We have included guided tours of all of the major battlefields and significant Civil War events. In Vicksburg, MS we visit the Vicksburg National Military Park, and the White House of the Confederacy in Montgomery, AL. In Georgia, we visit the Kennesaw Mountain Historic Battlefield site, the National Civil War Naval Museum, the National POW Museum, and the Atlanta History Center. We tour Fort Sumter (where first shots of Civil War were fired) in South Carolina. Virginia has us touring the Museum of the Confederacy, Stonewall Jackson Shrine, and numerous battlefields. In West Virginia, we visit Arlington National Cemetery, Kennedy’s Gravesite, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the ‘War’ Memorials. The Gettysburg Civil War Museum and General Lee’s Headquarters are on our list in Pennsylvania. We visit Appomattox Court House National Park (site of Lee’s surrender) along with the Robert E. Lee Chapel, Museum and Grave.

Some other highlights of this tour are: The re-enactment of the New Market Battle in West Virginia, Guided Motorcoach Tours of Washington, DC, and the other major cities, Dinner Theaters & Shows, Boat Cruises and many other special places and activities that are unique to their areas. We also have free time to enjoy Pigeon Forge and Nashville where there’s always something fun and exciting going on.

Whether you’re a history buff or just interested in learning more about our country, this is a fabulous tour. Enjoy the great history this tour offers and enjoy the camaraderie of others who share your interests. This is a fun trip.

Testimonials

  • When we signed up for the tour all we knew was that we were going to Alaska. Adventure Caravans made this trip, for us, a once in a lifetime experience. Everything was taken care of, all we had to do was leave in the morning and be in the next campground by a certain time. We enjoyed every facet of the tour from the log meetings and socials to the tours and our free time. Kudos to the wagon masters and the Penny and Tom. The icing on the cake are the wonderful friends that we made and know we will keep in touch. The camaraderie among the whole group was amazing but the trip left us with memories for a lifetime. Thank you Adventure Caravans.

  • Thank you so much for sending me your 20th anniversary DVD of my Adventure Caravans' New York City 10 Day Rally. I really enjoyed this trip so much and meeting all the people on the trip. I enjoyed watching this video and it brought back so many wonderful memories.  I am really looking forward to taking another trip with Adventure Caravans! Would you please tell your staff what a pleasure it was meeting them and what a wonderful job they did on this trip and hopefully I will get to tour with them again soon. Thanks again for everything.
