THE MISSISSIPPI will always have its own way… no engineering skill could persuade her to do otherwise… – Mark Twain in Eruption

We rendezvous and start this exciting adventure with an orientation and welcome party in Bemidji, Minnesota. The following day our chartered motorcoach and naturalist guide takes us on a tour of the Itasca State Park. Here we enjoy the Fall Colors in all of its splendid glory plus visit many interesting sites including a walk across the Mighty Mississippi where this small creek in Minnesota starts its winding journey 2,552 miles to the Gulf of Mexico.

Two days of touring in the Twin Cities takes us on a highlights tour of the metro areas including a notorious gangster tour, a sightseeing cruise including Sunday brunch, the Minnesota History Museum, legendary Minnehaha Falls plus a fantastic dinner and popular live Broadway show at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater.

We are in for a treat when we reach Davenport and the Quad Cities. We enjoy a guided Highlights Tour including John Deere Museum and Pavilion. Our fourth day in Davenport is one you won’t forget as we enjoy a bus tour of the seven Amana Colonies including a family style lunch. On our way back we visit the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library.

Hannibal is Mark Twain country and hometown of Samuel Clemens. We relive his escapades and adventures as we spend quality time in the Historic District and take a trolley tour of Hannibal. Two days of bus tours in St. Louis include the Gateway Arch, the Museum of Westward Expansion, Tom Sawyer Boat Cruise, Busch Stadium, the Budweiser Brewery and the August Busch Estate where you see the famous Clydesdale Horses.

Tours in Memphis include many Elvis sites and the famous Sun Studios, ‘Birthplace of Rock n’ Roll.’ We spend an afternoon at Elvis’ Graceland and get to know the man behind the legend on our Platinum Tour which includes the mansion, pink Cadillac, vintage vehicles and museum.

Tours of Vicksburg and Natchez include the famous battlefield, historic Cedar Grove Mansion, Longwood Mansion and an exciting Horse and Buggy tour.

We travel the famous ‘Natchez Trace’ and ‘Great River Road’ to New Orleans. Our tour of the ‘Big Easy’ includes a guide who tells you interesting stories about the history and highlights you have heard or read about. We visit Mardi Gras World via a behind the scenes tour of the world’s largest float building operation. We experience fun, food and folklore as we watch our hilarious Cajun/Creole Chef prepare traditional New Orleans dishes in front of us at the New Orleans School of Cooking. Afterward we enjoy the dinner our chef prepared.

Last, but not least, we take a bus deep in Cajun Country to Venice, the site of mile marker ‘0’ and the location where we enjoy a flight over the Delta and actual Mouth of the Mississippi River in a seaplane. This is followed by a fantastic farewell gourmet luncheon and tour at the famous Woodland Plantation. This plantation is pictured on the Southern Comfort bottle.

Come! Join us on the ‘Great River Road’ from its beginning to end and enjoy a very unique trip.

Testimonials

  • “The entire team did a very good job. They were so helpful and lots of fun to be with. They bent over backwards to accommodate us. It was a great rally. The Rallymasters were lots of fun and so efficient. We had a very good time.”
    Jim & Jan Dawes
  • “The team was the best. The fellow travelers were like old friends. It was above our expectation!”
    David & Gretta Storrs
  • “We enjoyed looking at the photos. I agree regarding the description of the Kaori Wildlife Sanctuary stop. In fact I would rate it as the high point of the entire Queensland / New Zealand tour. I am surprised to see other tours, even tours billed as "wildlife tours", that don't even make that stop.”
    Norm Day
  • “Excellent staff, excellent group of attendees, excellent tour guide, great bus drivers, wonderful shop tours, great meals. Everything was great. Everyone got along together, great venues and racing.”
    Dick & Sandy Kashdin
  • I must say it was way beyond my wildest dreams and thoughts of South Africa. First of all, I have to say that the people were exceptional. They were beautiful not only in looks, their beauty was in everything they did for us. They were so happy to talk with us and question us about America. They all would love to come over here to visit but said they knew they would never be able to afford the trip. I was overwhelmed with the young children and their attitude toward us. They laughed, smiled and waved to us all along the highways on their way to school. I have to admit, I was so proud of how they were dressed and their pride. Our American children have so much and appreciate it so little.
    Carole & Len Adams
  • “Well organized; great tours; free time—very good schedule!”
